Promotes Healthy Community

Situated at a unique intersection of downtown Oshkosh, the University of Wisconsin campus, and the nearby Fox River, this project is anchored by the Oshkosh food co-op, bringing local and healthy food to a USDA classified food desert. In this neighborhood, grocery stores are more than a mile away and more than 50% of residents in the surrounding area live below the poverty line. The project is meant to inspire a walkable urban lifestyle in what will become a crossroads of different areas in Oshkosh.

Informed by Context

The project draws inspiration from the site’s industrial history and the sculptural geological forms of the Niagara escarpment, which is referenced through its stacked massing. Materials selected for this site will be timeless, durable, and maintain their quality throughout the seasonal extremes experienced in Oshkosh. The location will also provide a pedestrian focused experience to promote activity and interaction with various community events that take place year round.

Vibrancy

The ground floor plan and site design engage and enhance the pedestrian experience. This project is full of energy and life and combines dynamic design with colorful accents. The final product brings progressive concepts of urban living to a small town scale.
