Shift/Performance Marketing

Pull Back

When we began design concepts, Shift Interactive was a small offshoot of Performance Marketing with big plans for future growth. The 6 staffers worked in tiny separate offices, accompanied by a wine fridge + a video game counsel in the reception area. The existing overhead lights caused glare, leading employees to work only by desk lamps. Our goal was to bring the expanding team together in well-lit shared workspaces that continued their creative culture while fostering project coordination + social interactions.

Momentum

Central to the plan was an alternative work/meeting zone grounded by a pool table + bar area with kegerator. We improved upon favorite elements from their existing space, including a video gaming wall + large desk wrapped in new pine slats. Throughout the office, we upped lighting with two-level switching + volumetric fixtures. New materials included Walltalker dry-erase boards + low workstation partitions custom-crafted of stained birch with clear-sealed steel.

Impact

The bar area quickly became a gathering hub for both Shift Interactive + parent company Performance Marketing. When Shift had grown to 22 employees, we master-planned the entire floor for both companies. The new shared main entry became the “town square” used by all to greet, gather + celebrate. Leveraging alternative workspaces for collaboration + a wired conference area has given the growing teams greater flexibility.

  • ""Slingshot took a bold and thoughtful approach to providing us with options to make the most of our offices at Shift Interactive. It was important for us to build in a number of collaboration and alternative work areas for our staff, while at the same time, offering our folks some spaces dedicated to entertainment and relaxation."
